In today's culture, we want what we want, and we want it the easiest and quickest way we can. We live in a culture of immediate satisfaction. Take this pill, eat this fast food, work harder, work faster. Oftentimes, this results in so many people falling for the latest fad diet, fad pill, or a way to make money while selling a product to lose weight. YAY! NOOOOO! It's so much simpler than that. All you need is pure wholesome food that grew straight from the earth just as our Creator had intended it. We need to work smarter, not harder. We need to live our lives more efficiently, not faster.
As humans evolve, we have gone from a hunter/gatherer society, to learning how to farm and produce higher yields of fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes etc. We began to domesticate and farm animals for food. We learned how to fatten up our animals thus changing the normal fat content of the food we consume. In the natural world, animals maintain an approximate 12% body fat percentage, today it's up to 80%. Chicken is no longer the "lean meat". We know that fat holds a higher caloric density than vegetables and other whole foods. More than 50% of Americans are considered overweight and 25% are considered obese. We have an epidemic of too much fat in our diet! This epidemic has resulted in epidemics of higher rates of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, and diabetes to name a few. Eating a whole food plant based diet can prevent and possibly reverse many of these common health issues.
As we have evolved, we have changed the combination of the macronutrients of the food we eat. The macronutrients are the protein, carbohydrates and fat content of the foods we eat. As human process foods, the perfectly designed food has changed and thus our bodies don't know how to interpret it. We've taken much needed fiber away from our diet. Fiber fills us and alerts us to stop eating. Instead, we keep eating and taking in more than we could possibly need and therefore become overweight and obese. Eating as straight from the foods original source is the healthiest way to live in synergy with our bodies.
So forget the latest facebook ad dominating your newsfeed promising you results with their most recent scientific "breakthrough" weight-loss pill or supplement. Get back to the basics. Get back to whole foods as nature intended - our creator grew your food just the way you need it. When you adopt a whole food plant based lifestyle, it is just that - A LIFESTYLE! It's not a diet. Understand and believe why you eat the way you do. You won't be dependent on a weight-loss supplement forever. You learn how to eat in harmony with your body's needs. As a result, the fat you have is used and burned up, blood pressure decreases, cholesterol levels decrease, blood sugars are better maintained. Any change in a lifestyle is hard at first, but with a strong understanding behind the why and with a powerful coach to work with through the mental blockades, you CAN adopt this lifestyle and feel SOOOO much better for it, feel happier, be more flexible, have less pain, better digestion, have more energy, and SO much more! I share this not just from wonderful resources like the book referenced below (which you should totally read), but because THIS IS ME! This can be you as well if you choose. Which do you choose? The red pill? The blue pill? Or the produce section?
